Nestled in the foothills of the western Maine mountains, Sandy River Camping is situated on 40 private acres along the beautiful Sandy River. When my wife and I decided to open Sandy River Camping, it was with the sole purpose of creating a unique and special place. One that offers an opportunity for people to experience camping in a nontraditional way. Our campsites are strategically placed throughout the property. So, you will always have privacy, tranquility, and your own little piece of paradise.

For those who are interested, we offer a variety of farm experiences with the alpacas, allowing you to learn more about these amazing animals. Some of the farm experiences include herd health, basic daily chores, or periodically you can sit in the pergola with an alpaca. When in season, we offer U-pick blueberries to our guests.

There is a community gathering room where you can meet new people, read a book, play games, take in a movie night, or relax. There is a pergola for viewing the Alpacas or a place to sit and watch your children play on the playground. We have two private beaches where you can swim, fish, or just watch the wildlife. Some other activities include multiple hiking trails on the property, a horseshoe pit, basketball hoop, ping pong table, and corn hole.

We offer a variety of campsites from single to group sites, some with power, some with platforms, and two cottage rentals. There are two bathhouses in the campground with outside sinks for doing dishes and access to drinking water. So, for a unique camping experience, come camp with the alpacas!
