Discover Sandy River Alpacas, a charming spot in the Western Maine mountains. Our cozy cottage, named after one of our friendly alpacas, sits on 40 private acres by the stunning Sandy River. It's the perfect blend of cottage comfort and a touch of elegance! Join us for farm experiences with these incredible animals and learn all about them. We offer a variety of farm experiences with the alpacas. You could have morning coffee or tea with an alpaca. You might choose to go on a guided hike around the property with one of our alpacas. You could help with the chores, You may like to learn about herd health. You could join my wife Marie and learn how to skirt their fleece before sending it off to the mill for processing. and if you are lucky enough to be here at the end of May, you could learn about shearing.
We have a gift shop located here on the property that is full of amazing alpaca products, hand-made soap, hand-knitted baby sweaters, hand-made jewelry and so much more! there is something for everyone. And it's never too early to Christmas shop.
In July & August, we have farm fresh vegetables and High Bush blueberries available.
Rates/Fees
Minimum 2-night rental required.
Weeknight Rate Sunday to Thursday: $ 140.00/night, plus 9% Occupancy Tax & $ 75.00 Cleaning Fee
Weekend Rate Friday & Saturday: $ 160.00/night, plus 9% Occupancy Tax & $ 75.00 Cleaning Fee
Weekly Rate 7 to 21 nights (10% discount off the nightly rate). plus 9% Occupancy Tax & $ 75.00 Cleaning Fee
Monthly Rate 22 nights or more. (22% discount off the nightly rate). plus 9% Occupancy Tax & $ 75.00 Cleaning Fee

Two private Beaches, Access to the 400 sq/ft gazebo, a playground which includes a Swing set, Climbing dome, Tether ball, basketball hoop and a Seesaw, A 10' x 30' Pergola where you can view the alpacas or watch your children play on the playground, the community room located adjacent to the check-in office (incl: board games, books, magazines, TV, Radio, cell phone charging station, ping pong table, plenty of seating & more), Alpaca Farm experiences when available, Corn Hole, Horseshoe pit, hiking trails, High bush Blueberries when available & fresh farm grown vegetables when available.
Arrival Instructions
You can find us using one of the following two methods.
1) - GPS: 1005 New Sharon Rd, Starks, Maine 04911.
2) - or you can Google: Sandy River Alpacas.
Upon arrival at our address, follow the signs to the campground entrance. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE PAVED DRIVEWAY! There, you will see a sign that reads 'Sandy River Camping.' Then follow the signs to the check-in office. Here we will greet you and get you checked in.
